Southport – A Mansfield man is in jail Monday night after he shot a semi-automatic rifle at a group of people in Southport.

Witnesses told Chemung County Sheriff’s Deputies why they think thirty-two year old William Hoover pulled out an assault rifle Sunday night. They said it all started because the suspect passed gas.
