Art monkeys

Monkeying around | SavannahNow.com
These artists are real Bohemian types.

Living communally in Florida, they stroll around without a stitch of clothing on. Their paintings, clearly shaped by abstract expressionism, are wild and unfettered, fiery and defiant. Even when they ape existing styles, their work seems boldly original.

Like so many creative souls, they're also misunderstood by the general public.

"When some folks come in,'' said gallery/coffeeshop owner Laurie Beck, "they look at the paintings on the wall and say, 'I could do that.'

"That's before they realize they're all done by monkeys."
