Treeful reunion

A tribe of endangered gibbons living in a wildlife sanctuary in India that has been divided by a railway track for several decades is set to be united under new plans.

The rare apes were split into two groups by the construction of the track in Jorhat, Assam, in the 1930's, with the animals' exclusively tree-dwelling nature preventing them from crossing from one side of the track to the other.

However, the Calcutta Telegraph reported yesterday (January 3rd) that plans were underway to construct two steel bridges across the track, with the constructions camouflaged to make them look like trees.
